These state-of-the-art mic pres represent a major step in the evolution of audio technology—and they can easily hold their own, even when compared to the most expensive stand-alone mic preamps. Armed with these outstanding mic preamps, XENYX mixers provide such transparent, crystal-clear performance you just might think someone upgraded your mics while you weren’t looking.
Sublimely Musical British EQ The British consoles of the 1960s and ‘70s changed the sound of rock and roll—without them the British Invasion might not have happened. Those legendary mixing desks soon became the envy of engineers and producers all over the world. The channel EQ on our XENYX mixers is based on that very same circuitry, allowing you to imbue signals with incredible warmth and detailed musical character. Even when applied generously, these equalizers exhibit sweet forgiveness and superb audio quality.
One-Knob Compression Ask professional sound engineers what their favorite piece of external processing gear is and the majority response will be virtually unanimous—dynamic compression. What is compression? We’re glad you asked. Compression essentially limits the dynamic range of a signal, lowering the level of loud sounds and turning up softer sounds, to achieve sonic balance. But applying compression is a delicate art that many novice, and even intermediate, sound techs have great difficulty mastering. Our “one-knob” compression is available on all mono channels and is easy to operate, even for entry-level users. With this one knob, you can easily dial in the perfect amount of compression for instruments and vocals, creating powerful mixes with punch and clarity. This is indeed a rare feature for products in this class—but standard on all XENYX USB mixers.
Effective FX All XENYX USB Series mixers (except the 1204USB) feature our new 24-bit dual engine FX processor, with 16 editable, studio-grade presets including reverb, chorus, flanger, delay, pitch shifter and multi-effects. Complete with a highly accurate input meter, these effects can be altered to your personal taste via the Parameter control. Time-based functions can be entered manually by pressing the Tap button in tempo with the music.
Recording Bliss There was a time when the recording process called for lots and lots of expensive gear, which meant the average musician had to buy time at a recording studio—and that time was pricey indeed. But modern technology has put personal recording well within the reach of virtually anyone with access to a computer. How do you get all that music flying around your brain into your computer? That’s where XENYX USB mixers come in. Thanks to the built-in, bi-directional stereo USB audio interface, you can connect any of these mixers directly to your PC or Mac computer via a single USB cable. Now any signal source you connect to the mixer can be recorded directly to your hard drive. Which brings us to software…

Which brings us to software...
Free Would Be Nice! Because you’ll want to take full advantage of the XENYX USB Series mixers’ recording and podcasting potential, we’ve thrown in a massive software package that includes Audacity (the most popular open source audio editor), Podifier, Juice, Podnova and Golden Ear (a great selection of podcasting software). MultiMix 8 USB 2.0 FX 8-Channel Mixer with FX and 24-bit recording
Mix it live and send it all to your Mac or PC.
The MultiMix 8 USB 2.0 FX is a compact mixer with built-in effects and a high-resolution, multi-channel recording interface so you can mix, record, and do both at the same time. Whether you are mixing a band or sub-mixing a group of inputs such as a drumset, the MultiMix 8 USB 2.0 FX is easy to use, rugged, and packed with features. Offering microphone inputs with phantom power, guitar-direct inputs, and line-level inputs for connecting everything else, plus a selection of stage-ready effects, the MultiMix 8 USB 2.0 FX delivers clean audio to your PA and recording systems.
The MultiMix 8 USB 2.0 FX features four XLR inputs with independent gain pots on channels one through four. These XLR inputs also have a switchable phantom power option to accommodate both dynamic and condenser microphones. TRS Line inputs are also available on all eight channels of the MultiMix 8 USB 2.0 FX. A high-impedance input on channel two enables direct connection of a guitar or bass – a great convenience for singer/songwriters looking to get a clean, "hot" signal. A 2-Track stereo input is also included adding the ability to mix in audio from other sources such as a CD player, iPod, or sampler.
Like the other mixers in Alesis’ MultiMix USB series, the MultiMix 8 USB 2.0 FX contains a complete USB recording interface. Where this mixer differs from others in the lineup is in its USB 2.0 technology. This enables you to send 10 channels (8 input channels plus the 2-Track input) individually to the computer, at up to 24-bit, 96 kHz resolution. Because each channel is sent individually, you can use virtually any DAW or other music software for mixing and editing the incoming audio.
The MultiMix 8 USB 2.0 FX enables bidirectional stereo signal, so musicians can record the stereo Main output into their computer and listen back using the mixer as an interface from software to headphones and monitoring loudspeakers.
Each channel features multi-band EQs, with channels one and two featuring sweepable, parametric midrange control for perfectly tailoring the sound of microphones. The MultiMix 8 USB 2.0 FX includes an internal effects processor to quickly and easily add new colors to your mix. Reverb, Delay or Phaser can be dialed up simply by adjusting the pre- or post-fader knobs located within each channel strip. The MultiMix 8 USB 2.0 FX also contains Aux Out and stereo Returns, as well as Insert jacks on channels one and two to allow for audio to be processed by external effects engines. MultiMix 8 USB 2.0 FX gives you an impressive amount of routing options in such a compact size.
Enlarged knob-to-knob spacing improves ergonomics and in-use efficiency compared with the first generation of MultiMix mixers. Like the other members of the MultiMix FX line, the MultiMix 8 USB 2.0 FX incorporates new, removable endcaps, which can be helpful for squeezing into smaller spaces in tightly packed setups. In addition to its improved signal-to-noise ratio specifications, the mixer consumes 36% less power than its predecessor for reliability and energy efficiency.

You’re ready to go live on your PC or Mac computer right out of the box! You also get more than 100 virtual instruments and 50 FX plug-ins, turning your computer into a complete home-based or mobile recording studio from input to output.

The way this has been implemented on ZED is super-flexible and super-easy! No longer do you need to fiddle around the back of your PC to get to the soundcard inputs, only to find that the levels are all wrong and noisy. Just plug in a USB lead to your ZED, select the USB routing on the mixer and the device on your computer and that's it! CD quality audio to and from your PC or Mac. Switches and connection through jack socket terminals provide different send/return configurations:-
Send options: 1) Main Mix Left + Right (Post-fade) 2) Main Mix Left + Right (Pre-Fade) 3) Auxes 1-2 4) Auxes 3-4

MusiQ ZED-14 features a responsive 3-band, swept mid frequency EQ design which utilises MusiQ – with optimised slope (or Q factor) for equalising individual instruments.
DuoPre Based on the proven pre-amps from the hugely successful PA series, ZED-14 has DuoPre pre-amps, which use a two stage design, with carefully controlled amounts of gain in each stage. When amplifying the signal from the XLR input, the gain range is huge - 69dB of range to be exact - and is very evenly distributed around the gain control, meaning better control of signal level. Most of the gain comes from the first stage, so unwanted noise is kept to a minimum. Line level signals are simply plugged into the second stage of the pre-amp by using the line input jack socket, which has the great advantage of less noise when using the line input and also matching to a higher input impedance.
SONAR LE – Provided Free! We’ve included Cakewalk SONAR LE with ZED-14 so you can immediately start to use it to create your own music – just add a PC and it couldn’t be easier to get going. You’ll be able to record from your ZED mixer, create tracks and arrange songs, then play back to ZED via the USB port. You can use SONAR LE and your ZED mixer together in many ways – e.g. straightforward recording of a stereo mix, recording tracks individually to build up a song, or using the USB port and software as an effects loop.
The PV 14 USB features built-in DSP effects with multiple reverbs and delays, plus vocal enhancer and much more, while a USB port allows direct connection to a USB-equipped computer for recording from the mixer or playing back digital audio (compatible with Mac OSX, Windows XP, ME & 2000). It also includes pre-fader monitor sends; post-fader effects send; inserts on all channels; and dual, switchable line inputs on the two stereo channels. All PV Series mixers include our Tape to Control Room and Tape to Mix assigns, which allow the operator to monitor an external stereo signal without using any of the mixer's channels. In addition, the mixers' Control Room output sends a stereo master output signal to an external source for monitoring. Phantom power, effects send and a contour switch are also standard on all models. Features:

ZED-FX ZED-12FX has an essential selection of 16 time-delay effects, designed for small groups who don’t want to carry around an effects unit with their gear but who still want great quality FX at their gigs and on their recordings. Our DSP engineers worked hard, crafting and refining beautiful reverb algorithms to enhance every performance. These effects are available nowhere else at this price point – this quality and integration is only available from the ZED-FX. ZED effects are easily controlled using 3 buttons with 9 display LEDs. For example, the ideal delay time can be quickly tapped-in, or the perfect amount of reverb on the lead vocal can be dialled-in. There is one-stop navigation and editing – in fact, it’s just as easy as using effects pedals. To alter effects parameters, the TAP button is held down and the up/down buttons pressed to adjust the specific parameter for that effect, for example, the decay length on PLATE, or the depth on CHORUS.

The Rane AM1 is an Automixer with four gain-sharing XLR Mic/Phantom/Wireless Inputs, combined with a manual mixer with one RCA Line Input, one 3.5 mm Line Input with a USB charge port, USB Audio Input and Output, XLR Mix Output, RCA Record Output, and a Headphone Amp with source selector.
The Rane AM1 is part gain-sharing automatic mic mixer, part manual line mixer, part USB audio I/O device, and simultaneously a Rane RAD.Use it as a standalone mic/line mixer, or add more gain-shared mics using up to seven Rane AM 2 Automixers (sold separately). Use the RAD Port to transport the main mix digitally via CAT 5 to either a Rane HAL's RAD Port, or to a Rane Mongoose to a CobraNet network.
Each of the four XLR Mic Inputs offers front panel input Level controls feeding a gain-sharing automatic mixer. Rear panel, 3-position switches for each Mic Input support dynamic mics (no phantom power), condenser mics (48 V), wireless receiver outputs (+10 dBu max). A front panel Mic Mix Level control adjusts the volume of all automixed mics.
The AM1 is optimized for automixing speech. The mic inputs have a fixed 100 Hz to 7 kHz bandpass filter to provide the best voice-only automatic mixing using a gain-sharing algorithm.
Three manually-mixed audio inputs provide a simple user interface and installation. The Aux 1 Input dual RCA and Aux 2 3.5 mm jacks are independently monoed, each with a front panel Level control. A dedicated USB Charge port adjacent to Aux 2 provides power to USB devices such as iPods or other USB-powered devices. The separate orange USB Audio Input also offers a front panel Level control for the 16-bit, 48 kHz digital audio that is monoed immediately upon entry.
Signal and Overload indicators monitor the Mic and Aux Inputs, the Mic Mix and the Main Mix. Indicators flank the corresponding Level controls.
The AM1 appears in Windows and Apple OS X computers as a standard USB Audio Device, immediately compatible with dozens of audio recording and playback audio applications. The AM1 registers with the OS as a 16-bit 48 kHz device for both incoming and outgoing audio. The USB Audio port doubles as a firmware update port if future updates become available.
The XLR Main Output can be set to Mic- or Line-level to feed a mic snake or a +20 dBu max balanced input. The front panel Output Level control affects the XLR Output and the RAD Port output. The analog RECORD RCA Outputs and the digital USB Audio output are both mono, pre-Output Level, containing the same mix as the Main Output.
The RAD Port sends the AM1 output mix to either a Rane HAL's RAD Port for further signal processing and control, or to a Mongoose for routing to a CobraNet network. The Cascade IN accepts audio and data from a Rane AM2’s Cascade OUT. This adds the AM2’s eight mic channels to the AM 1, creating a 12 channel gain-sharing automix. Up to seven AM2s can be cascaded to a single AM1, offering up to 60 gain-shared mics. Both the RAD and the Cascade IN port have status indicators to aid setup and troubleshooting.
Rear panel Fault, Locate, USB and Power indicators inform head-scratchers of device errors, the AM1’s physical location, positive USB audio device OS registration and AC power status.
A front panel pre-Output Selector permits headphone cueing so users can verify input and output operation before bringing new sources into the live Output mix. Both ¼" & 3.5 mm headphone jacks with a Level control are provided. Duplicate Locate and Power indicators are on the front and rear.
Universal IEC power on the rear supports 100 to 240 VAC and 50/60 Hz. The AM1 is UL Listed and CE Certified.

The AM2 is an Automixer with eight gain-sharing XLR Mic/Line Inputs, one XLR Mix Output, cascadable to more AM2 Automixers, and a RAD Port to CobraNet via Mongoose.
The Rane AM2 is both an 8 channel, gain-sharing automatic mic mixer and simultaneously a Rane RAD. Use it as a standalone mic-only mixer, add more gain-shared mics using up to seven additional AM2 Automixers, and/or use the RAD Port to transport the mic mix via a Rane Mongoose to a CobraNet network. If you need manually mixed line audio sources, including USB Audio I/O, see the Rane AM1 Automixer.
Each of the eight XLR Mic Inputs offers front panel input Level controls feeding a gain-sharing automatic mixer. Rear panel, 3-position selectors support dynamic mics (no phantom power), condenser mics (48 V), or line input optimized for wireless receiver outputs (+10 dBu max). All Level controls come with front panel signal and overload indicators. The AM2 is optimized for automixing speech. The mic inputs have a fixed 100 Hz to 7 kHz bandpass filter to provide the best voice-only automatic mixing using the gain-sharing algorithm.
The XLR Main Output can be set to mic- or line-level to feed a mic snake or a +20 dBu max balanced input. When an AM2 is used standalone, both the XLR Output and the RAD Port output audio are affected by the front panel Output Level control. When the AM2’s Cascade Output feeds a downstream Rane AM1 or AM2, the front panel Output Level control only affects the XLR Output.
The USB port is solely used as a firmware update port if future updates are needed. The RAD Port sends the AM2 Output mix to a Rane Mongoose for routing to output RADs and/or a CobraNet network. Cascade IN accepts audio and data from an upstream AM2’s Cascade OUT. This adds eight more mic channels to the initial AM 2 creating a 16-channel gain-sharing automix. A maximum of eight AM2s can be cascaded, offering up to 64 gain-shared mics. If an AM1 is included, it must be the final device in the chain of no more than eight. Simply connect Cascade OUT ports to Cascade IN ports and the AM1 RAD Port to the Mongoose. Both the Cascade IN port and the Cascade OUT/RAD Port have status indicators to aid setup and troubleshooting.
Rear panel Fault, Locate, USB and Power indicators inform head-scratchers of device errors, the AM2’s physical location, positive USB audio device OS registration and AC power status.
Duplicate Locate and Power indicators on the front help installers physically locate and verify AC power to the AM2.
Universal IEC power on the rear supports 100 to 240 VAC and 50/60 Hz. The AM2 is UL Listed and CE Certified.

Just plug in a USB lead to your ZED, select the USB routing on the mixer and the device on your computer and that's it! CD quality audio to and from your PC or Mac. Switches and connection through jack socket terminals provide different send/return configurations:-
Send options: 1) Main Mix Left + Right (Post-fade) 2) Main Mix Left + Right (Pre-Fade) 3) Auxes 1-2 4) Auxes 5-6 5) Matrix 1-2.
Return options: 1) To Playback input 2) To Stereo 3 channel
MusiQ ZED-420 has a tuned 4-band EQ taken from the acclaimed GL2200 mixer, utilising MusiQ – with optimised slope (or Q factor) for equalising individual instruments.
DuoPre Based on the proven pre-amps from the hugely successful PA series, ZED-420 has DuoPre pre-amps, which use a two stage design, with carefully controlled amounts of gain in each stage.

The ZED-R16 is a superbly equipped console with all the crucial parts of the recording process in one box. The best per forming preamp in Allen & Heath’s entire range is packaged with a high quality analogue to Firewire interface and the most extensive EQ on any mixer at this price point (or even twice the price!). An analogue channel strip so well featured, which sounds this good, is a real find at this level.
ZED-R16 combines an analogue recording mixer with a FireWire soundcard, MIDI controls and ingenious ‘home-studio’ routing so you can build tracks in the studio, record live gigs, mix-down, remix… all through warm analogue circuitry, 4 band fully parametric classic British EQ and out to crisp, precise digital format.
In the studio ZED-R16 combines an imaginative feature set with professional build quality to create the ideal centrepiece for any project studio with big ideas, or larger studios with dedicated live rooms. Control room speaker and alternate speaker outputs, plus two separate artist monitor feeds are provided. In addition to the digital inter face, two analogue recording outputs are also available. The ZED-R16 even has a dedicated internal condenser talkback mic. Features such as the dual function audio/MIDI faders and built in sequencer transport were dreamed up by engineers here at A&H who have home studios themselves, so they’ve made sure they’ve built in features they really need.
Soundcard The internal soundcard features 18 FireWire inputs and 18 outputs plus 16 ADAT I/O. Each channel on the mixer has its own independent soundcard channel so instruments can be recorded simultaneously (pre or post EQ) and into the sequencer separately. To minimise clock jitter and provide synchronicity between the ZED-R16 and other devices, the mixer is equipped with the professional JetPLL digital audio chipset.
Mix-down and live In addition to multi-track recording, the ZED-R16 allows mixing down in analogue, then recording back into the computer in digital. The bundled SONAR LE software makes this a breeze. The story doesn’t stop here however - ZED-R16 can be a versatile live FOH mixer too. In this mode, its 4 aux buses become foldback feeds and FX sends, and the main XLR outputs feed the PA system. Recording the live gig is straightforward; the record feed signal can be easily assigned using the four buttons next to the faders.
Preamp The ZED-R16’s pre-amp, which has been specially designed for this application, has a symmetrical ultra linear circuit. The best epitaxial low noise transistors are used in the front end, and active feedback is employed in both phases before the differential amplifier. This results in super-low distortion, while maintaining low noise (-128.5dBu EIN), high CMRR, and a transparent and beautiful sounding pre-amp. Individual 48V phantom power switches and 100Hz, 12db per octave hi-pass filters are provided on all mono input channels.
EQ section Complete with two swept, fully parametric mids, and high and low shelving EQ, the ZED-R16 has a sophisticated equalisation section without rival in this section of the market. It has much in common with our class-leading pro touring mixers. Forty years of analogue mixer design has given us an unparalleled knowledge of filtering.
Auxiliary sends Two pre and two post aux buses can be used as feeds for headphone amplifiers in the studio, FX sends anywhere, or wedge foldback live. The talkback function is either routed to the aux or studio outputs, so is ideal for any environment.
FireWire flexibility The digital audio connections are all present on the rear of the desk. Two FireWire connectors allow the ZED-R16 to be connected to a personal computer whilst the second socket daisy chains devices. Two switches change the sample rate and routing selection, while 4 connectors allow input and output to ADAT equipment.
ADAT In addition to the Firewire input and output, the ZED-R16 has 4 ADAT optical sockets. The I/O routing on the ZED-R16 is identical for the Firewire channels and the ADAT optical connection. With a combination of panel switches, the mixer is capable of an incredible 26 simultaneous inputs and outputs. Feed the ZED-R16 from ADAT lightpipe equipment, or record directly out from 16 channels to 2 ADAT machines, or to another soundcard.
MIDI software control The MIDI section on the ZED-R16 has been designed to control software transport, with extra mappable controllers ready to be user-assigned. With recording now truly in the digital age, ZED-R16 brings the home studio bang up to date. In addition to the ZED-R16’s dedicated MIDI controls, all of the channel faders can be switched to become MIDI controllers.
Monitor section The ZED-R has two signal paths for monitoring: an output for main control room monitors and outputs for an alternative set of monitors for checking mixes. The control room mix can follow either of the two main analogue outputs or the digital main mix, allowing access to all main audio outputs.
Build The ZED-R16 has been designed using individual vertically mounted circuit boards with each rotary control fixed with a metal nut to the front panel - making a much more robust product that will resist damage and give years of reliable use. ZED-R16 also has professional 60mm faders for ultimate control over your levels.
