Simple finger gestures can produce expressive effects such as vibrato and glide.
1VCO, 1VCF, 1LFO – Modular synthesis building blocks The monotron's circuit is radically simple: one voltage-controlled oscillator, one voltage-controlled filter, and one low frequency oscillator. As a result, the process of sound creation is intuitive, and instantly understandable. And it's tons of fun. The monotron provides the joy of sonic creativity that's at the heart of analog synthesis.
The famous Korg filter The monotron starts with the same highly acclaimed VCF circuit as KORG's classic MS-10 and original MS-20 semi modular synthesizers, and adds extra oomph to the resonance. Originally released over 30 years ago, these instruments are still coveted today for their aggressive, dynamic filters. The VCF Cutoff knob sets the frequency or tone of the filter; the VCF Peak (resonance) knob adds emphasis.
Semi modular satisfaction Just as on the original MS-20, the monotron's filter can be "patched into," allowing any external audio source to be processed by the monotron's filter. The input jack (AUX input) built into the monotron's compact body inserts the AUX input into the signal path right before the VCF. This provides a great way to connect a KAOSSILATOR, a keyboard, a guitar, a digital audio player or even an un-mixed track to the monotron and enjoy tone-bending filter effects.
Versatile LFO provides audio – and visual – excitement! The LFO (Low Frequency Oscillator) can affect either the oscillator pitch or the filter cutoff. Both the speed and the intensity are individually adjustable, so you can create anything from a gentle vibrato to swooping tone changes of galactic proportions. As you turn the LFO Rate knob – featuring an embedded LED – the speed of the modulation effect and the speed of the blinking LED will change in tandem.
Listen anywhere – alone or with friends The ultimate in compactness, the monotron includes a built-in miniature speaker. Along with the battery operation, this feature allows you to enjoy the monotron everywhere. There's also a headphone output that you can use when creating sounds at home, for recording, or for connecting to an amplifier or PA system.
KAOSSILATOR 2 is the palm-size phrase synthesizer that can be played by anyone, at any place, and at any time. Ergonomically designed with an OEL display and microSD storage, KAOSSILATOR 2 combines PCM drums, modeling synthesis and two crossfade-able Loop Recorder banks for spectacular pocket power! The 150 ready-to-play sounds are divided into categories for easy-access, including Synth Leads, Basses, Acoustic Instruments, Chorded Sounds, SE, Drum Kits and Rhythm Patterns. While the KAOSS pad is ideal for “theremin-esque” free-form sounds, simply choosing a key and selecting one of the 35 scales, can provide a truly professional musical performance. Add to that the 50 Gate Arpeggiator patterns, and the KAOSSILATOR 2 provides a solid rhythmic basis for any musical explorations.
The KAOSSILATOR 2’s Dual Loop Recording Banks can overdub your touchpad performances as many times as you like. By adding layer upon layer to a simple phrase, it’s easy for anyone to create amazingly intricate tracks. Using the Touchpad, the internal mic, or an external source, different sounds and phrases can be recorded onto each of the two Loop Recording banks for dramatic results. These loops can then be cross-faded or muted, or the loop length can be changed in realtime to create dynamic live performances.

In a world seemingly ruled by digital, Korg created an analog sensation with the palm-sized monotron Analogue Ribbon Synthesizer. Korg has once again raised the analog banner with the amazing monotribe Analog Ribbon Station; a new form of synthesizer that packs an amazing array of features and technology into its compact body. Korg’s monotribe shares the monotron’s analog DNA, yet quickly delves deeper into the rich, organic, and often chaotic world of analog synthesis. In addition to analog synthesis, monotribe brings together intuitive ease of use and a three-part discrete analog rhythm section, plus the proven appeal of Electribe-style sequencing. Complete with a built-in speaker and battery power, monotribe is self-contained and highly portable.
True Analog Synthesis The monotribe’s sound engine uses technology old and new, merging the powerful sound of analog synthesis with the dexterity and playability required in today’s groove making environments. Analog technology is essential for fast and responsive control, and delivers the full sonic spectrum from warm and easy-going to full-throttle rampage.
Three-Part Analog Drums The monotribe provides a three-part rhythm section powered by discrete analog circuitry; bass drum, snare, and hi-hat. These three sounds were the key elements in a generation of analog beat making, and are still in demand today. Use these powerful drum sounds to generate distinctive beats attainable only from the monotribe.
Electribe-Style Groove Creation For over a decade, Korg's Electribe Series has served as the standard tools for dance music and DJ work, and has earned outstanding popularity, even appearing recently as top-selling iPad app. The fantastic step key interface lives on in monotribe, with a dedicated button for each of the eight steps. This allows realtime, hands-on step editing of not only the drum parts, but also for any synth part sequence played on the ribbon keyboard.
Active Step and Flux Mode Active Step editing lets you remove or re-insert individual steps, creating short loop-like effects or off-beat patterns that weave in and out of complex rhythms. The step buttons provide this Active Step control during playback, and also provide an instant return to the original 8-step sequence if needed. Flux Mode allows the creation of sequenced synth parts that are not rigidly tied to the step grid, providing more musical versatility. The creation and morphing of edgy beats and stuttering rhythms has never been easier.
Multi-Mode Ribbon Keyboard The ribbon controller keyboard provides three selectable playing modes/ranges. The chromatic mode (KEY) is ideal for playing melodies and bass lines, and stepping smoothly from note to note. Switch to the continuous mode (NARROW) for glides and bends - just as on the monotron. Also available is the wide continuous mode (WIDE) with a six-fold pitch range for dramatic synth zaps and screams. In addition, pressing the Gate Time button will allow the gate time to be sequenced as the ribbon controller keyboard is played.
Auto-Tuning Analog Analog synthesizers of yesteryear were prone to drift in pitch. But no more! The monotribe’s auto-tuning circuitry provides stable chromatic playability, and will not go out of tune. This auto-tuning technology also means no warm-up time, no servicing for pitch calibration, no sensitivity to temperature changes – just the great sound of analog VCO.
Classic Analog Components – VCO, LFO, VCA The VCO offers a choice between sawtooth, triangle and square wave. White noise can mixed in to the oscillator signal in any amount. The Octave selector covers a broad range, from deep bass to piercing lead-lines. Three EG (Envelope Generator) presets provide the VCA with impressive versatility and dexterity. The LFO can be patched to the VCO and/or the VCF, creating impressive dynamic effects. The Range switch allows the LFO to deliver stirring cyclic changes over tens of seconds (SLOW) or superfast (FAST) audio-range FM ringing. Switching the LFO Mode to the 1-shot setting allows the LFO behave as a second envelope generator – a truly powerful addition!
Vintage MS-10/MS-20 Filter The monotribe features the same VCF circuit found on Korg's classic MS-10 and MS-20 analog semi-patchable synthesizers. Distinctively analog, this sharp and powerful filter adds dramatic change to the sound, imparting the uniquely memorable character of Korg’s early analog synthesizers. Using the audio input, any audio source can be enhanced by passing through the filter section. Process an instrument, a voice, or a complete mix form CD or MP3 and create larger than life filter effects!
Sync Jacks: A Return to Modular The monotribe provides both Sync In and Sync Out jacks, empowering multiple monotribe units to play and work together for a synchronized performance. Not just other monotribes, either. Audio line level pulses can trigger the Sync Input so the monotribe can be synchronized to a DAW system, for example. In addition, the polarity of the pulse waveform can be changed for both the input and output, so you can enjoy synchronized performance with a variety of equipment equipped with Sync connections.
On-The-Go Groove Making Light, compact, and portable, monotribe is great on the go. Equipped with a built-in speaker and powered by six AA batteries, it is completely self-contained and ready to deliver hours of enjoyment wherever you take it.

New up-to-date patterns created by today's hot talent New preset data has been carefully selected from the latest sounds and patterns produced by ELECTRIBE loving creative artists from around the world. Ninja Tune/Big Dada artists Emika and the Anti-pop Consortium are contributors, as well as U.K. MySpace artist Shrikednb (Tom Thorpe); plus YouTube stars Denkitribe, mryat and Scribej. Simply listening to these new patterns will nourish your need to create cutting-edge music.
MMT – fusing DSP synthesis with PCM samples The ELECTRIBE•MXSD features Korg's acclaimed MMT (Multiple Modeling Technology) as its sound generation system, creating a wide range of sound variations using simple operations.
The oscillator section provides standard analog synthesizer waveforms and techniques such as sync, cross modulation, and ring modulation. Advanced modeling types include Chord, which lets you vary the pitches to produce a chord from a single note; Unison which generates a thick sound by stacking and detuning the pitch of as many as six oscillators; and Waveshape, which allows you to mix two oscillators and then modify the result to create a complex waveform. There are a total of 16 types to choose from. In addition to four multi-mode filters – capable of radically transforming the oscillators' sound – there's a "Drive" parameter that generates the distinctive distortion of analog circuitry to create powerful analog synth sounds. Used in conjunction with other tonal elements – "BPF+" (Band Pass Filter Plus) with adjustable peaking, combinations of modulation from the LFO/EG, etc. – the ELECTRIBE•MXSD delivers plenty of sound-creation potential. PCM sample data is also provided as part of sound generation system. Included are 76 PCM synth waveforms and 207 PCM drum samples ready for instant sound creation. Click on the links listed to the right to hear audio demos of the MMT synth engine.
Intuitive workflow lets you create sounds and songs simultaneously The ELECTRIBE is all you need to produce sophisticated dance and electronic music, simply by using the front panel knobs and switches to edit the main sound parameters in realtime just as you would on an analog synthesizer. Track-making is intuitive, creating each musical part using the same workflow as when creating your song. As a final touch, vacuum tubes help add just the right level of analog warmth and punch.
Valve Force circuitry Two 12AX7 vacuum tubes can be used to add more power to your sound. The tube gain knob controls the level of the output signal passing through the vacuum tubes, letting you create dynamic sounds with the distinctive tonal quality that only tubes deliver. The result is a fat, warm sound that cannot be achieved using digital technology. This is not simple "distortion," but rather a natural effect that enhances the tonal changes in your music. The master volume and tube gain controls are completely independent, allowing you to experience the VALVE FORCE sound at any listening level.
Three stereo effects processors Three stereo effects processors are available simultaneously to provide radical changes to the tone. A total of 16 effect types are available, including more aggressive effects such as a Talking Modulator, and a Grain Shifter that lets you freeze an instant of the sound and adjust the loop interval to the tempo. Sounds can be routed independently to the three effects, or you can use the Chain function to link effects together, opening up further sonic possibilities.
Crisp filter section, with modulation LFO and EG modulation sources can be used to apply time-varying change to the sound, and BPM SYNC allows the speed of the modulation effect to be synchronized with the pattern tempo for fast and smooth tonal change. The filters that modify each part's tonal character have a crisp cutoff and resonance, so that you instantly create sharp changes in the sound.
Built-in step sequencer for intuitive song production The ELECTRIBE's 16 step keys allow for easy, intuitive song production. Realtime recording lets you record phrases as you perform, and step recording lets you use the keys to input timing, pitch and duration one note at a time. Since you can specify the last step of a pattern, it's easy to make instant changes to the feel or length of the song.
Expressive Motion Sequencing The Motion Sequence records realtime knob tweaks and plays them back as part of the pattern. You can loop sounds with time-varying changes, creating original performance effects even in a live situation. Two types of motion sequence are provided; one for effects and one for musical parts, and each can also be edited for at the individual step level. You can record up to 24 motion sequences for use in a single pattern, allowing you to control virtually every sound parameter.
Powerful arpeggiator with ribbon controller and slider The arpeggiator can be used for both live performance and for song production. Simply touch the Gate Time / Resolution ribbon, and the selected part will begin sounding automatically. The resulting arpeggiator phrases can even be recorded into a Pattern. When playing a synth part, you can also specify what type of musical scale the slider will generate, giving you even wider expressive possibilities. The functions of the ribbon and slider can be swapped, providing an additional level of customization.
Numerous patterns optimized for all types of dance and electronic music The factory settings include 192 patterns ideal for all genres of today’s dance and electronic music and beyond. Each pattern can save the sound settings and sequence data (maximum 128 steps) for each part, and 256 patterns can be stored in the internal memory. Pattern chaining is fast and flexible. You can combine patterns, add mute data and knob movements to create up to 64 songs. By assigning your favorite patterns to the 16 step keys, you can use switchable Pattern Sets to select patterns while you perform. Chain Play lets you choose a starting pattern and ending pattern, and loop the performance. You can also create and save your own original pattern sets.
Auto BPM detection The Auto BPM function automatically detects the tempo from any rhythmic source connected to the audio in jacks, and applies that tempo to the pattern. Of course you can also use Tap Tempo to set the tempo, or sync up to an external MIDI Clock.

The intuitive ELECTRIBE step-time/realtime interface has been enhanced with Korg's Ribbon and Slider control. Effects, Motion Sequencing, and Pattern length have all been expanded. Our exclusive filter lets you chose Low Pass, High Pass, Band Pass or Band Pass Plus.
Filter Demos
Here’s a few audio examples to show what sweeping each filter type can do (drum loop courtesy of Skippy's Big Bad Beats):
HH LPF.mp3 (mp3, 283KB): The traditional Low Pass Filter, which removes high frequencies as it is closed.
HH HPF (mp3, 337KB): A High Pass Filter, which removes lower frequencies as it is swept.
HH BPF (mp3, 516KB): A Band Pass Filter, which only passes frequencies close to (or to each side of) the center frequency it is set to.
HH BPF+ (mp3, 514KB): A variation of the Band Pass Filter which also has a parallel dry path mixed into the signal. This is good for accentuating certain frequencies on top of the original signal.
LPFR and BPM Mod (mp3, 750KB): Now we add some BPM-synced filter modulation to the Low Pass Filter, driven by a random LFO shape.
HPF Env BPM Mod (mp3, 353KB): A BPM-modulated High Pass Filter with a repeating envelope shape.
Up to 256 patterns can be created and stored to the internal memory. You can combine patterns, add mute data and knob movements to create up to 64 songs. To get you started, a wide assortment of 192 patterns covering house, hip-hop, R&B, electronica, drum'n'bass, techno, trance and more come preloaded. Using the last step function, you can easily adjust to any odd meter. Favorite patterns can be assigned to Pattern Sets for instant access. Data can be quickly saved and loaded via SmartMedia.
Audio inputs allow you to process external signals through the on-board filter and effects, and an extra pair of assignable outputs has been added as well. The front panel knobs and switches control all the most important sound parameters, allowing you to modify the sound in realtime as you perform, and giving you a hands-on feel like that of an analog synthesizer.

This intuitive design allows the MP-10 Pro to deliver a wealth of useful features that anyone can quickly understand and enjoy. A comprehensive set of connections provide the MP-10 Pro with maximum versatility. In addition to MIDI and USB connections, there are connections for a PC keyboard that makes naming and cataloging songs very efficient. Two XLR microphone inputs assure compatibility with nearly any mic. The video outputs (S-Video and Composite) allow karaoke style lyrics, chord changes, or even full scores to be displayed on an external video monitor. Add to that the assignable foot pedal control, headphone outputs, and Advanced Vocal Remover, and the MP-10 Pro rises to the top of its class.
Sophisticated Song Playback At the heart of the MP-10 Pro are the dual song players. Sharing a common database, each can quickly call up and play any of the thousands of MP3 audio files or Standard MIDI Files that you've saved to the internal hard drive. When playing an MP3 song, the MP-10 Pro can change the pitch of the song to match any singer's vocal range, without affecting the tempo. Likewise, the time stretch feature can alter the tempo without affecting the pitch. Best of all, our advanced vocal remover can strip the lead vocal out of nearly any song as it plays – no preparation required!
Playlist and Requests The MP-10 Pro includes a powerful database [iTunes compatible] to easily manage thousands of music files. Numerous Playlists can be created using the MP3 songs and MIDI Files stored on the internal hard drive, and each playlist can be easily edited. Have different playlists on call for weddings, for frat parties, for social gigs and casuals. The Playlist view page includes everything you need to manage your songs. Playlists can be easily created even “on the go” – or imported from an iPod. By pressing the “Info” tab, you can immediately see how many songs are included in the selected playlist, as well as the total playing time. The Main Screen shows all the information regarding the two players, and the selected playlist. There are three different Play modes: Manual (songs can be freely selected and assigned to either player), Auto (using the selected playlist as a guide, the next song will be automatically loaded) and Non Stop (all the songs in the playlist will be played in sequence).
While playlists are great timesavers, with the MP-10 Pro, you can also take requests! The entire database is searchable using multiple parameters – name, artist, era, tempo, genre etc. – making it simple to find any song on demand. Using the Find function, the MP-10 Pro will carefully search the entire database for your favorite song. For example, the Browser can provide an immediate view of everything available in the selected genre. Once found, the song can be immediately sent to either of the two players.
Korg Quality Sounds and Effects When playing a MIDI file, the MP-10 Pro is ready with Korg's EDS Enhanced Definition Synthesis engine. In addition to providing a premium sound source for playing a Standard MIDI file (SMF), the MP-10 Pro's EDS engine can also be played from an external MIDI keyboard, providing top-quality Korg sounds! This added feature makes the MP-10 Pro the ideal add-on for the keyboard entertainer.
In addition to Korg's high-quality EDS sounds, the MP-10 Pro is also loaded with studio-grade effects processing. In total, eleven effect processors are provided to the various functions and voices in the MP-10 Pro – the internal synthesizer, the microphone inputs, the song players, etc. There is also a Master EQ, and each individual track being played by the song players has its own EQ as well, assuring complete tonal control. The MP-10 Pro's Easy Song Edit provides even more custom control.
Master of Ceremonies For the emcee and entertainer, the MP-10 Pro is also equipped with a state of the art TC HELICON vocal processor, delivering world class dynamic processing, delay effects, and a multifunction EQ. The MP-10 Pro provides reverb to the microphone inputs, and the Choir effect can add vocal harmonies to a MIDI file. Two balanced XLR microphone inputs offer compatibility with professional microphones.
Using the dual song players, one can play as the other is used to cue up the next song. Just as on a top-end DJ mixer, a 60mm motorized fader delivers smooth transitions and professional segues from one player to the other. The Pre Listen function allows the use of headphones to hear either the Master signal (output) or the Monitor signal (to cue the next song). Through this simple interface the user is always in total control, and can switch between the different play modes at any time during the performance.
Made to be Played Best of all, your new MP-10 Pro is made to be played. The color TouchView™ display brings all of the controls up to fingertip level. Surrounding the display are many additional well laid out controls. Most of these surface controls are illuminated and dedicated to single functions, making it simple to perform on the MP-10 Pro in any situation – on stage or off – in any type of lighting. Four performance pads can be assigned to play a percussion instrument, sound effect, etc. on the fly to spice up or customize your performance. From the touchscreen display, calling up the Mixer section provides access to everything needed to control the Voice Processor, the four performance Pads, the Master FX, the EQ of each track, data from a MIDI keyboard, and of course, the mixer itself. SMF Song Edit tools are also found in this section. The built-in video interface allows this on-screen information to be shown an external video monitor, or even a video projector. This video output is especially useful for displaying chord changes, or even full musical scores from any MIDI File. Lyrics can also be displayed from karaoke files and properly prepared SMF songs.
The integral handle folds under during performance, giving the MP-10 Pro just the right angle for live use. Footpedals and footswitches can be used to provide hands-free controls of effects, playlists, and more. A padded bag is included to help you protect your MP-10 Pro as you travel from gig to gig.

TASCAM's new X-48 is the world's first standalone 48-track Hybrid Hard Disk Workstation. Co-Developed with SaneWave, it integrates the best of both worlds: the stability and ease-of-use of a purpose-built hard disk recorder, with the GUI, editing and mixing features of a computer-based digital audio workstation.
It boasts up to 96kHz/24-bit recording across all 48 tracks. Its file compatibility and synchronization surpass even the TEC Award-winning MX-2424, with native Broadcast WAVE audio file support and AAF export for compatibility with workstations like Pro Tools®, Nuendo and Logic. Support for FireWire hard drives and Gigabit Ethernet allows simple transfer between systems, making it the ultimate multitrack solution for high-quality music, post and live recording applications.
Yet the X-48 goes beyond mere standalone recorders -- its built-in, automated 48-channel digital mixer, VGA display output, powerful editing functions and DVD+RW backup drive transform it into a complete integrated workstation.
Applications
Live Recording
The portability of the X-48 makes it a natural choice for live event and house of worship recording. Its dedicated design gives you extra reliability for those occasions when there aren't any second takes.
The optional IF-AN24X analog input card offers 24 high-quality balanced analog inputs, and you can use two cards for 48-track/96kHz recording. AES/EBU and ADAT digital I/O cards are also available, and both the analog and digital I/O can be used simultaneously for monitoring.
The rear panel contains a FireWire connection for connecting more hard drives for extra storage. Since the X-48 records Broadcast WAVE files, these recordings can immediately be brought into your favorite DAW for editing and mixing, or you can complete the project "inside the box" with the mixer built into the X-48. It also offers 60-channel automated mixing with powerful processing features, allowing you to monitor the show without an external mixer, and/or output a stereo mix to a CD or DVD recorder like our DV-RA1000HD.
Music Tracking
Working with the X-48 gives you the feel of recording to a purpose-built recorder, instead of an adapted computer workstation, for solid, reliable performance. With all of its synchronization and control options - like 9-pin control, MIDI control and SMPTE sync - it easily integrates with the rest of the equipment in your studio. When you just want to capture the music, not get bogged down in editing and setup, the X-48 helps you keep the session moving quickly to keep your artists creative.
The X-48 handles 48 tracks of simultaneous 96kHz recording and it keeps up with every punch-in, no matter how fast. Its great-sounding analog converters and inexpensive DVD backup media make it the perfect replacement for aging 24-track recorders. You can record to its built-in 80GB hard drive or to FireWire drives for removable storage.
Once you've captured the performance, you can assemble the perfect take using its built-in editing interface. Just plug in a mouse, keyboard and VGA monitor to start editing, looping, or crossfading between takes. If you prefer working in another format, export your session as an AAF file to a workstation like Pro Tools®. Audio tracks on the X-48 are also recorded as standard time-stamped Broadcast WAVE files that can be imported into any workstation software, and you can even work in "tape mode," which creates one audio file per track to make file management between systems easy.
Live Presentation Playback: The X-48 excels as a playback machine for theater, live performance and presentation applications. Its Theatre Mode function allows you to play one audio selection at a time, automatically cueing up the next section for instant playback. Designed for theaters playing back sound effects and music selections, Theatre Mode also offers hundreds of creative possibilities for multimedia producers. Whether the project originates on the X-48 or is imported from a DAW like Pro Tools, cueing the next scene is as simple and reliable as tapping a footswitch.
Synchronization features like SMPTE, MIDI and RS-422 enable the X-48 to integrate with multimedia installations. Its 48 tracks of playback easily allow multi-channel surround mixes to be reproduced with astonishing clarity. Integrated editing, mixing and project management allow the engineer to control an entire production from their fingertips.
Project Studio Recording
From the Portastudio to high-end professional solutions, TASCAM is well-known for innovative, all-in-one production workstations integrating recording and mixing in one box. The X-48 allows a small studio to combine 48-track, 96kHz/24-bit recording with powerful automated mixing for results never before possible at this price point.
The editing screen of the X-48 uses a familiar DAW interface, with snap-to-grid editing, crossfade and features professionals demand. The internal mixer is a 60-input digital system with 32-bit floating-point resolution. Each channel provides 4-band parametric EQ, dynamics processing and six aux sends. Best of all, the X-48 is configured out of the box for pro audio recording. There's nothing to install or troubleshoot - just plug it in, turn it on and press record.

The TASCAM DM4800 is the ultimate digital console for professional users who demand a flexible, 64-channel mix platform that configures to fit their needs. A "fat channel" strip in the center of the board provides instant access to 4-band parametric EQ, dynamics and aux controls available for the first 48 channels. Twenty-four studio-grade mic preamps provide enough inputs for a live event, and more can be added using expansion cards with external preamps. The standard compliment of analog and digital I/O is more than you'll find on consoles costing three times as much, and a completely confi gurable 24-buss routing system allows you to re-patch the board at the flick of a switch.
TASCAM's DM4800 fits seamlessly into the modern recording environment based around a computer DAW. With a single button press, the Remote layer provides a 24-fader control surface for control of premiere workstations such as Pro Tools, Logic, SONAR, DP, Cubase and Nuendo. The optional IF-FW/DM mkII interface card provides 32 channels to and from a computer at up to 96kHz over a single FireWire cable. And the optional surround monitoring card provides downmixing, bass management and level control for mixing in up to 6.1 surround.
