The user-installable EXB-SMPL is an advanced music sampling upgrade that adds two audio inputs with mic/line switching, a variable gain knob, an SCSI interface and support for 48-kHz 16-bit linear mono/stereo music sampling to the Korg TR and LE series workstations.
The waveform-editing functions available in the sampling upgrade, include Crossfade Loop, Truncate, Normalize, Time Slice, Time Stretch and Rate Convert, and provide you with the editing possibilities you expect from a sophisticated sampler. You can also connect to external SCSI devices using the EXB-SMPL music sampling upgrade, making it possible to use a wide range of storage media while accessing CD-ROM sound libraries. The Korg TR and LE compatible music sampling expansion supports all AIFF, WAVE, AKAI S1000/3000 (samples and multisamples) as well as Korg format data.
The EXB-SMPL Board comes standard with 16-Mbytes of SIMM memory, allowing approximately two minutes, 54 seconds of monaural music sampling, or approximately one minute, 27 seconds of stereo sampling. You can install a maximum of two 72-pin SIMM memory modules* to expand the memory to 64-Mbytes (when the standard 16-Mbyte module included is replaced by two 32-Mbyte modules).
The EXB-FW FireWire Expansion Board option provides 2 channels of digital audio input and 6 channels of output, in addition to 16 channels of MIDI communication to a computer with only one cable. The M3 FireWire expansion board is available for use with the Korg M3 Music Workstations, adding even more capabilities to an already intuitive music-making instrument. Note: M3 Operating System Version 1.10 or higher is required to use the M3 FireWire Board.
Mac Users: Mac users will need to update to Leopard or OS 10.4.11 to use the EXB-FW FireWire Expansion.
