Media recording is identical to audio recording, except that media recording usually occurs at lower volumes. It makes sense that companies who make premier audio recording products would also make great media recording products, provided that the design keeps in-mind those lower recording volumes.
The M3 is the latest in portable recording technology and has all the essentials you need to record your media instantly. Most importantly for recording media, the M3 has an input gain switch with 3 input gain levels: -20dB, 0dB, and +10dB to ensure that the M3 records at the optimal level for your media environment. The M3 also features a large bright full color LCD screen and an easy recording interface. The M3 is perfect for everything from professional field recording to corporate meetings, training, and education. Record via balanced 1/8” line inputs or mic input directly on to the provided 1 GB SD memory card. The M3 gives offers you the choice to record as an MP3 with up to 320kbps or as a WAV format with 44.1kHz/16-bit mode (CD Quality) of pure sound quality.

TASCAM’s DR-05 brings high-quality stereo recording to an easy-to-use portable powerhouse with a size and price that anyone can handle. The DR-05 records in MP3 or WAV format – including 96kHz/24-bit high-resolution audio – to microSD or microSDHC media. A pair of all-new microphones handles up to 125dB SPL with the sensitivity to capture every detail. With new recording features like Peak Reduction and Quick Menu, the DR-05 puts album-quality recording in the palm of your hand.
Premium-quality Sound Everything about the DR-05 is designed to get the best quality recordings of your music. A new pair of built-in microphones withstands up to 125dB SPL – the volume of a jet plane from 200 feet away – yet still have the sensitivity to capture every detail of a performance. You can add your own microphone or line-level source through the 1/8” stereo input, including plug-in power for microphones that need it.
Internally, the DR-05’s digital and analog circuit boards are built separately to increase noise performance, with a low-impedance design to further decrease hiss. A separate power supply is sent to the A/D and D/A converter for even better audio performance. The result is clean sound quality – over 92dB signal to noise ratio, under 0.05% total harmonic distortion and 20Hz to 40kHz response (-1/+3dB) at 96kHz/24-bit resolution.
Simple to Operate The layout of the DR-05 has been revamped to be quick and easy to work with one thumb. Operations like recording, adjusting levels, deleting bad takes and adding markers are just a button press away. Dig deeper to find features like limiting, low cut filtering, a built-in chromatic tuner and more.
One new feature that makes the DR-05 easy to operate is the new Peak Reduction feature. This setting automatically sets your recording level by listening to the input and adjusting for the best level. Unlike Auto Gain settings, this one only goes down to prevent accidental distortion after a period of low level like a break. Peak Recording works in rehearsal mode or in record, so if the performance is louder than the soundcheck you’re still safe. Used with the built-in limiter, it’s unlikely you’ll distort your career-making live recording.
Other classic TASCAM features are included, like Variable Speed Audition to loop and slow down music without changing the pitch – perfect for transcribing or learning new music. A Level Align function can be switched on for playback, to smooth out any sudden volume jumps, and a built-in speaker is also provided. The two AA batteries are enough to power the recorder for 17 1/2 hours, even while recording at CD quality.
For musicians and recordists at any stage of their career, there’s no easier way to get great-sounding recordings than TASCAM’s DR-05.

TASCAM's DR-2d Portable Digital Recorder brings high-resolution recording to a compact, affordable package. It offers up to 96kHz/24-bit WAV or MP3 recording to SD cards, and recordings can be transferred to computer through high-speed USB 2.0.
A new dual recording feature records a copy of your audio at a lower level, or a second pair of inputs for four-track recording. Unique to the DR-2d, Dual Recording ensures that if the level suddenly jumps you have a backup instead of a distorted performance. Three modes are provided:
Dual Recording records a second copy of your performance up to -12dB lower. If the first recording gets distorted you'll have a copy that isn't distorted. This is in addition to the analog limiting and low cut filter on the input which also prevent distortion
Line mode records also two stereo files – the built-in mics plus the line input. This is perfect for live recording: record the board mix to the line input as well as the built-in mics for the sound of the room. The two stereo files allow you to treat and mix these together after the event in your DAW software.
Mix mode is similar to Line mode, only the two sets of inputs are mixed to one stereo file inside the DR-2d. This is the one to use when you don't want to do any mixing later on.
Record using the new built-in condenser microphones or plug in your own. You can slow down recordings without changing the pitch, and there's even a metronome and built-in speaker. We live in a “point and shoot” world. Every day, people are using their phones and flip cams to take pictures and videos and share them with their friends and fans around the world. As video fidelity improves exponentially, the form factor continues to shrink. The new Korg MR-2 provides the same benefits to the audio enthusiast or recording professional; impeccable fidelity in a hand-held unit that is completely self-contained. Imagine the flexibility of being able to record anywhere at any time with superb audio quality. This – and more – is what the MR-2 can offer.
The MR-2 is an unsurpassed capture device; your audio "butterfly net." With it, you'll never miss a musical moment, whether it's a band rehearsal, performance, concert, your own personal practice – or any event, for that matter. While no other hand held recorder can match the MR-2's DSD fidelity, recordings made on the MR-2 can be converted into nearly any multi-bit format for use on any project and within any DAW software/hardware platform.

DSD – astounding audio quality DSD is the highest quality audio format available today, using Direct Stream Digital technology to faithfully reproduce the original sound. Today, DSD is used by recording and mastering studios around the world as the preferred audio format for recording and mastering. We encourage you to try out the MR-2 so that you can experience DSD audio for yourself. When recording DSD audio, the signal is recorded without further conversion, and can then be played back in its original format, ensuring that every sparkling nuance of the sound is reproduced. This means that a DSD recording is able to preserve the sound in a form that is closest to the original sound, making it suitable as a future proof archive that can support changes in formats through the years. Top engineers and mastering experts proclaim that DSD offers the closest representation of analog warmth and the presence of the original recording than any other format.
Format Fiesta Today, audio quality is an important consideration, even for mobile recorders. The KORG MR-2 is simply the highest resolution portable recorder available, covering every need from critical recording of music performances to field recording. Despite its compact and convenient size, the Korg MR-2 supports a wide range of audio formats.
24-bit @ 192 kHz (the highest resolution available in a hand-held recorder)
24-bit @ 176.4/96/88.2 kHz
16-bit/24-bit @ 44.1/48 kHz (WAV [BWF] format)
Other: Audio formats such as MP3/MP2 can also be recorded and played.
Point and shoot convenience The pro-quality stereo electret condenser mic built into the MR-2 can rotate a total of 210º toward the front, top, or rear of the unit in eight 30º steps. This gives you the freedom to point the mic toward the target recording source. The MR-2 also provides two screw mounts for attaching to general-purpose camera tripod, allowing flexible mic'ing and positioning. There's also an external input jack for you to connect your favorite mic.
Analog limiter, low-cut filter, and bass EQ are built in Squeezed into the MR-2's handy size are an analog limiter, a low-cut filter, and a bass EQ. To ensure that the benefits of the MR-2's high-quality DSD recording are unimpaired, this high-performance analog circuitry is under accurate digital control, just as in the sophisticated consoles used in professional recording studios. This thoughtful design elevates recordings on the MR-2 to an even higher level of quality.
40 Recording Setups match the MR-2 to a variety of recording situations The MR-2 includes 40 easily-selectable Recording Setups. Each contains its own settings for mic sensitivity, input level, analog limiter, low-cut-filter and bass EQ. These setups offer optimized settings for a range of recording environments such as ensemble performances, solo vocal, or piano performance, as well as settings suitable for field recording or documenting meetings. It's just like having your own personal recording engineer at your side. This allows anyone to easily make pro-quality recordings using the Korg MR-2. The addition of 10 user programmable setups provides ready-to-record settings for specific tasks, and eliminates repetitive steps when recording in a known environment over multiple days.
Chromatic Tuner A high-performance and highly-reliable KORG chromatic tuner is built in. Calibration is adjustable in 1 Hz steps over a range of 435 Hz to 445 Hz. This is perfect for capturing quick ideas when practicing and during rehearsals.
Easy operation with highly visible display and controls The MR-2 features a highly visible 128 x 128 pixel liquid crystal display. The noiseless backlight allows operation even in dim locations. Dedicated buttons and switches allow quick adjustments of input level, Hold on/off, etc.
Efficiently store and manage data on SD/SDHD cards Data recorded on the MR-2 is stored directly to an SD/SDHC* card. There is no motor – as would be required for a hard drive – so there's no danger of unwanted drive noise being captured and recorded. SD/SDHD media is widely used; the recorded data can be conveniently stored on individual cards. The recorded data consists of two files, the audio file and the project file (containing project and mark information), and these two files are collectively referred to as a "project." On the MR-2, a project is handled as if it were a single audio file, and project operations such as renaming, deleting, and song editing can be performed on the MR-2 itself. Up to 400 projects can be created on the MR-2 in each recording date folder.
USB 2.0 computer port The MR-2 is equipped with a USB 2.0 connector (Mini-B connector) that allows the recorded data to be transferred to your computer at a high rate of speed. This connection also allows the MR-2 to be used as a USB card reader and to charge while connected to your computer.
Two-way power supply Two AA nickel-metal hydride batteries (1900 mAh) allow approximately four hours of continuous recording or playback. USB bus power is also supported. (Note: Nickel-metal hydride batteries cannot be recharged using bus power.)
Integrated software support The MR-2 is bundled with Korg's AudioGate audio format conversion software. In addition to converting files from 1-bit DSD to multi-bit PCM (or vice versa) this software is an ideal way to edit the recorded material or to manage your archival masters. By using AudioGate, you can take advantage of "MR style" recording in which you record the material in DSD format, and then convert the file as appropriate for the task at hand. This method assures you will be preserving the highest audio quality at all times. In fact, many experts have judged that audio recorded at these high DSD rates and then converted downward sound better than recordings originally made at these lower rates.
AudioGateV2.0 supports reading and writing of numerous audio formats including DSD, WAV, AIFF, FLAC and MP3. Audio CDs – and even DSD discs – can be read and written. AudioGateV2.0 can use the computational power of your computer to apply painstaking optimization to your data. For example during conversion, you can use the "Normalize" function to automatically export the data at the optimized level, and even choose from two different types of dither processing: "TPDF Dither" which improves the quality of the exported product, or KORG's newly developed "Noise Shaped Dither (KORG AQUA)" which matches the perceptual response of human hearing. This means you'll be able to easily create high-quality audio CDs that are a step above what could be created by common CD writing practices.

Answering the call of remote recording engineers, the TASCAM HD-P2 Portable High-Definition Stereo Audio Recorder is the professional solution for challenging live and on-location applications. Co-developed with Frontier Design Group, it records at up to 192kHz/24-bit resolution to Compact Flash media, and its audio files are instantly available to DAWs through the built-in high-speed FireWire computer connection. Unlike consumer MP3 sketchpads, the professional HD-P2 incorporates high-end features like a SMPTE timecode input for synchronization to external devices while in record or playback. The user interface is designed for fast and intuitive use under stressful one-take-only situations, and its large, angled LCD is perfect for any application from over-the-shoulder location recording to concert recording and commercial use.
High-definition Recording, To Go The HD-P2 records in stereo from 44.1kHz to 192kHz, at 16- or 24-bit, to affordable Compact Flash media. Not only is Compact Flash absolutely silent, so no transport noise will show up on your recording, but the recorded audio is written directly as Broadcast WAVE files for immediate use in digital audio workstations. The unit even includes a FireWire jack for the fastest possible transfer of files to your PC or Mac computer.
The professional design of the HD-P2 extends to convenient details that pro users will appreciate. The Retake button allows the user to delete the last recording and set up to re-record with a single button press. As audio is recorded, the file headers are continually re-saved to protect your recording against accidental data loss. Files can be named from the front panel interface or using a PS/2 keyboard, which can also be used to control transport and setup features.
On the input side, the unit has a pair of XLR mic inputs with phantom power and analog peak limiting to curb distortion during unpredictable live events. The input level control allows the user to change the level without taking their eyes off the action. The HD-P2 also features unbalanced RCA ins and outs as well as S/PDIF digital I/O. Monitoring is available through a headphone out - again, with its own ergonomic level control - using a built-in speaker. A built-in microphone is also provided for interviews and educational use.
Built-in Synchronization - Because Being On Time Shouldn't Have To Be An Option TASCAM's HD-P2 comes standard with a full-featured timecode input - making it the most affordable recorder with built-in timecode ever made. Incoming LTC is connected to the locking XLR input for timestamping your Broascast WAVE files from a central clock. Not only does the recorder timestamp your recorded audio with sample accuracy, the HD-P2 chases incoming timecode during playback for review or loading into an editor. A video clock input allows frame edge resolve to a central blackburst source or use as a lock-and-release timecode slave. There's also a freewheel setting for use with unpredictable timecode sources.
For maximum compatibility with the post production world, the HD-P2 supports pull-up and pull-down sample rates, even at high-resolution settings. The video clock input accepts tri-level sync for high-definition television production.
On Location, It's More Welcome Than The Craft Service Table The shoulder-slung design of the HD-P2 with its included locking strap makes it a natural choice for film production recording. The Compact Flash media is safely recessed and latched to prevent accidental ejection, and audio can be recorded locked to timecode and video reference for absolute lock. It runs for approximately 5.5 hours on readily-available AA alkaline batteries, and weighs less than two pounds with batteries installed. At the end of the day, recordings can be instantly transferred to an editor through the FireWire jack or a CF reader for use in a non-linear editor to sync dailies or to conform dialog during post.
Precise recording quality for capturing a live performance The HD-P2's 192kHz/24-bit recording resolution is so precise, you can almost hear what brand of cork was used for the conductor's baton. Its Compact Flash transport doesn't make any noise, so you don't need to worry about machine noise on the recording. The high-quality mic preamps provide phantom power to handle sensitive condenser microphones, and the analog limiter protects the recording against sudden transient distortion. With the high capacity of today's Compact Flash media, you might even be able to enjoy the performance without constantly watching the time remaining meter.
You don't need a union card to figure it out Although the HD-P2 was designed for demanding film shoots and live concerts, it's still simple and affordable enough for use in everyday classrooms, churches and home studios. School band and orchestra leaders can use it to record rehearsals for students, and then record concerts to sell for fundraising. House-of-worship leaders can record their services for duplication on CD, and its high-speed FireWire connection provides instant access to the recording, so that CDs can be authored and duplication can begin as the laity files out of the church.
With professional connectivity, built-in synchronization, high-resolution recording and Compact Flash convenience, the HD-P2 is the professional solution for serious recording in a reliable, portable package.

1-bit Technology Equals Pristine Fidelity 1-bit recording is the latest advancement in audio, and has been adopted for use in the critically acclaimed SACD recording format. It offers a frequency response of DC to 100 kHz and dynamic range of 120 dB. This uncompromising fidelity, low noise floor, extended dynamic range, lifelike imaging and analog quality depth has been praised by top experts. But there are other important advantages to the format of this stereo recorder that are of benefit to all recording professionals, regardless of their tracking platform.
Future Proof Flexibility Today's state-of-the-art 24-bit converters use high-speed 1-bit conversion to capture audio, using real-time decimation and other processes to present the data in the desired bit depth/sample rate format. The beauty of the MR's bitstream format is that it uses the original 1-bit data, without the need for the other processes. What comes in comes out, with no manipulation needed.
As files are converted and reconverted between various bit depths and sampling rates, there are possibly degrading effects, depending on the sample rate conversion algorithms. The critical issue is that files mixed and mastered in today's state of the art high-resolution audio may be insufficient for tomorrow's formats. Archiving your final mixes and masters in a 1-bit system allows you to bypass these issues, and preserve your music with both the highest fidelity and in a more "universal" format. That data then can more easily be converted at a later date to the bit depth/sample rate format of your choice without compromising the integrity or fidelity of the data. You can even convert to newer formats that will be adopted in the future, be they multi-bit or a further migration to the 1-bit format.
Free Integrated Software Solution The MR-1000 comes with Korg's innovative and powerful AudioGateTM software for Mac® and PC. AudioGate can convert 1-bit recordings into WAV and AIFF formats at various bit-rates (and vice versa) and offers real-time conversion and playback of 1-bit files using your computer's audio hardware.
It also does essential functions like DC offset removal, gain control, and fade in/out. The combination of these recorders and this exclusive software makes the perfect system for both capturing and preserving your critical projects and source recordings. This archiving capability that had only been the domain of the major record companies and top studios is now available for everyone!

Un-beatable Audio Performance Comes Home to Roost - Meet the Korg MR-2000S! Korg captured the world's attention with their MR series of DSD mobile recorders and studio tools. After consulting with top recording and mastering professionals, Korg has now created the Korg MR-2000S Studio Recorder; a 2-track mixdown designed from the ground up to bring that same DSD sonic performance home for use in any studio environment.
A DSD and Mastering Recorder Born to Run In keeping with the MR Series studio recorder heritage of portability, the MR-2000S 1- bit recorder adds a number of new features to meet the requirements of the most demanding studio, yet retains a sleek, single rack-space profile. This compact format is also ideal for any live recording rig; or for grabbing that "off-the-board" live recording night after night - as well as shuttling your recordings from venue to studio and back again. So whether you want to capture that once-in-a-lifetime performance with impeccable detail, or need to transfer those priceless recordings from session to session, the MR-2000S high-resolution audio recorder is ready to roll.
Recently released firmware update for the MR2000S adds many new features to improve operational ease.
"MR Control Link" Function This lets you perform recording and playback with multiple MR-2000S units synchronized. Word clock and transport commands such as PLAY and STOP sent via the S/P DIF cable enable this function.
Selection of stereo or mono as the recording format You can now select "Stereo" or "Dual Mono" as the recording format for enhanced compatibility with other devices and software.
Support for mono audio files When playing a project that was recorded with "Dual Mono" selected as the recording format, or if there are files whose names end in a numeral (e.g., trk1) or that are likely to be a pair (e.g., _L,_R), they will be played back as a Dual Mono stereo pair. If the paired file has not found, that monaural file will be output from both channels.
Support for professional use of channel status block as the S/P DIF output It is now possible to use the channel status block of the digital output from the S/P DIF terminal in "professional" mode. When you select "Professional", the first channel status bit is set to "1".
Improved Fast-forward and Rewind. When holding down the FF or REW button during playback, you can now hear sound (commonly called scrubbing).
Support for AIFF file playback MR-2000S can now play non-compressed AIFF files with the extension of .aif, .aiff, or .aifc.
Master. Class. All of Korg’s MR Series recorders feature the 1-Bit/2.8224 MHz format used in creating the SACD (Super Audio Compact Disc). The MR-2000S goes above and beyond this industry standard to provide 1-Bit/5.6448 MHz recording. At such accelerated sampling rates, the entire sound stage is faithfully captured, even during the softest passages. The clarity, ambience and true dynamic range of the original sound source are preserved with unprecedented accuracy.
By mastering in this superior format, the recorded material can always be re-created natively in whatever format you require, providing a true future-proof archive. In supporting these recording requirements, the MR-2000S uses the highest-quality components available - the CS4398 Digital to Analog Converter from Cirrus Logic and the Burr-Brown PCM4202 Analog to Digital Converter from Texas Instruments Corporation - minimizing any possible degradation of the audio signal.
Format Fiesta In addition to the aforementioned 2.8 MHz and 5.6 MHz 1-Bit formats (DSDIFF, WSD and DSF formats are supported), the MR2000S is ready to record in any of the current 16-Bit and 24-Bit formats (from 44.1 kHz up to 192 kHz) directly, in BWF (Broadcast WAV) format.
Easy on the Ears, Easy on the Eyes Sure, the fidelity of the MR-2000S is a feast for the ears. But the multi-stage LED metering is a treat for the eyes as well. Accurate and responsive, each channel employs 24 bright, color-coded LEDs to provide detailed level information that is highly visible from nearly any vantage point, whether in the studio or in a remote live capture environment.
Got the Hook-up? Versatility is the key when creating a recorder with a wide range of applications, and that’s where the MR-2000S shines. The XLR analog inputs feature a selectable -12dB, -14dB -16 dB, -18dB or -20 dB reference level, insuring the proper level match with nearly any audio source. XLR analog outputs are also provided. In addition, the MR-2000S is equipped with analog RCA style inputs and outputs for maximum flexibility.
On the digital side, coaxial S/P DIF digital I/O provides smooth integration into any 16-Bit or 24-Bit digital studio environment – from the music workshop to the broadcast studio. The MR-2000S also provides word clock I/O for reliable digital synchronization between various digital audio equipment or even between two MR-2000S Studio Recorders.
Save it for Later The MR-2000S delivers up a whopping stereo record time of nearly 120 hours (16-Bit/44.1 kHz). Even at the highest resolution (1-Bit/5.6 MHz), the 80 GB internal hard drive provides a generous 14 hours of stereo recording time. In fact, the entire file structure of the MR-2000S has been designed to provide ample versatility and ease of use.
When you begin recording, the MR-2000S creates a date folder for that day (just as digital cameras can date each picture). Up to 400 “Date” folders can be created on the hard drive, and each can contain up to 400 “Projects”. Each MR-2000S recording creates two types of files: one containing the audio data and a second containing any marker data or protect settings. Collectively, these two files are called a “Project”, and the MR-2000S handles them as a single audio file.
To keep the internal drive ready and available, a convenient hi-speed USB 2.0 port allows files to be quickly saved and stored via PC. In fact the MR2000S’ internal hard drive can be used as a FAT32 USB external drive to carry source material and other files when needed.

The compact format of the MR-2000S-BK format is also ideal for any live recording rig; or for grabbing that "off-the-board" live recording night after night - as well as shuttling your recordings from venue to studio and back again. So whether you want to capture that once-in-a-lifetime performance with impeccable detail, or need to transfer those priceless recordings from session to session, the MR-2000S high-resolution audio recorder is ready to roll.
Legendary MR Series Audio Fidelity The MR-2000S-BK combines Korg’s legendary MR Series’ unprecedented audio quality with the features that the modern studio demands, creating the ideal mastering and mixdown recorder. The single-rackspace design and ample on-board hard drive delivers a compact way to capture and carry away the sound you were hearing in the mixing environment. The rich black studio finish, backlit LCD, and bright LED level meters provide excellent visibility and response speed, ensuring accurate monitoring. The MR-2000S-BK fulfills the professional ideal of a truly future-proof studio master recorder.
Capturing the Complete Performance As with all of Korg’s MR Series recorders, the MR-2000S-BK supports the 1-Bit/2.8224 MHz DSDIFF format used in creating the SACD (Super Audio Compact Disc). The MR-2000S-BK goes above and beyond this industry standard to provide 1-Bit/5.6448 MHz recording. At such accelerated sampling rates, the entire sound stage is faithfully captured, even during the softest passages. The clarity, ambience and true dynamic range of the original sound source are preserved with unprecedented accuracy.
Format Fiesta By mastering in this superior format, the recorded material can always be re-created natively in whatever format you require, providing a true future-proof archive. In supporting these recording requirements, the MR-2000S-BK uses the highest-quality components available - the CS4398 Digital to Analog Converter from Cirrus Logic and the Burr-Brown PCM4202 Analog to Digital Converter from Texas Instruments Corporation - minimizing any possible degradation of the audio signal. In addition to the aforementioned 2.8 MHz and 5.6 MHz 1-Bit formats (DSDIFF, WSD and DSF formats are supported), the MR-2000S-BK is ready to record in any of the current 16-Bit and 24-Bit formats (from 44.1 kHz up to 192 kHz) directly, in BWF (Broadcast WAV) or AIFF formats, and can even playback MP3 files.
Generous 160 GB HDD The internal 160 GB hard disk allows approximately 29 hours of recording at the highest quality (1-bit 5.6448 MHz stereo), or approximately 240 hours of CD-quality (16-bit 44.1 kHz stereo). You can connect the MR-2000S-BK to your PC via the USB 2.0-compatible port and transfer the recorded data at high speed. The MR-2000S-BK can also be used as a FAT32 USB external drive to carry source material and other files when needed.
MR Control Link for Multi-Unit Operations The MR Control Link feature allows one MR-2000S-BK to be assigned as the master, controlling the recorder operations such as playback and recording on multiple MR2000S/S-BK Studio Recorders. The synchronization clock and transport control signals are relayed via standard S/P DIF cables. This means that 7.1 channel surround or multi-track live recordings can be conveniently captured in the superlative DSD format. This function is also valuable as a way to create 1-Bit archives of multi-track sources such as stem mixes.
Dual Mono Mode Dual Mono Recording capability allows two mono files to be generated in place of a single stereo file. For example when using the MR Control Link function to record with four MR-2000S/S-BK units, using dual mono recording will allow the recorded result to be handled as eight monaural files, making it easier to quickly import the files into your DAW system. The MR-2000S-BK can also use the file name to detect stereo pair files within the same folder, and play them back as dual mono files; mono files recorded on a DAW (or other device) can also be played back.
Easy Management of up to 160,000 Projects When you record on the MR Series, two types of file are created; an audio file and a project file (which contains protect settings and mark data). These two files are collectively called a "project," and can be handled on the MR Series as a single audio file. The MR-2000S-BK lets you enter date information, and a date folder is created automatically for each day that you record. Each time you record, a project will be created in this folder. For each format, the MR-2000S-BK lets you create up to 400 date folders, with up to 400 projects in each date folder. It's also easy to perform file management tasks such as renaming, deleting, or protecting individual projects. You can also store up to 100 mark points in each project.
Setting Files enhance workflow efficiency All critical MR-2000S-BK settings—input level, clock source, recording mode, etc.—can be memorized, named and saved as a Setting File. This feature allows you to save, manage, and load up to four hundred different operating setups. This means that even when different settings are used for different sessions, or when a single MR-2000S-BK unit is used by multiple engineers as a master recorder, you will be able to instantly resume your work simply by recalling the setting file that you saved for your current project. Additional improvements to your work flow include the ability to monitor audio while rewinding or fast-forwarding, making it easy to find the locate point at the beginning of a song or to set marker points.
The Ideal Connections for the Professional Workplace The MR-2000S-BK offers the essential connectors for today’s professional workplace. Analog connectors include XLR balanced input/output jacks, and RCA unbalanced input/output jacks. The reference level of the XLR jacks can be switched between -12/-14/-16/-18/-20 dB, allowing the MR-2000S-BK to be used in any recording environment from a music-related studio to a broadcast facility. Digital connectors include S/PDIF coaxial jacks for PCM sources, as well as word clock jacks for synchronization with other devices or additional MR-2000S-BK units.
Bold Black Design The new black panel with its bold yet understated design will harmonize with studio equipment as well as your home audio system. To avoid impairing the atmosphere of your listening room, the LED level meters can be turned off, allowing you to immerse yourself in an undisturbed world of sound.
Archiving Vinyl Records Since the advent of the CD, audio equipment has become predominantly digital. Yet while sharp-edged sound is valued, the rich information content, warmth, and subtlety of analog records is also receiving renewed appreciation. Although the MR-2000S-BK is a digital device, DSD's high degree of reproducibility allows it to faithfully capture the warmth of an analog record, and has contributed to the popularity of the MR-2000S-BK as an ideal method of archiving inherently high-maintenance analog records.
*Additional equipment is required in order to connect an analog record player. For details, refer to the owner's manual of your analog record player.
Listening to Distributed Music While music distribution via the Internet was initially focused on portable devices, its convenience has led to Internet playback functionality being integrated into home audio devices as well. In turn, this has led to an increasing interest in higher-quality music distribution. In addition to the ultimate audio quality of DSD, the MR-2000S-BK is also able to play back PCM formats of 16/24-bit 44.1 kHz, 16/24-bit 48 kHz, 24-bit 88.2 kHz, 24-bit 96 kHz, 24-bit 176.4 kHz, and 24-bit 192 kHz. The MR-2000S-BK is an ideal choice of player with high-quality format support.
